Week Three of Portfolio Project

 02/23/22

Updates!!!

This weekend I plan on working with my friend on some drafts just to test out the shots I have in mind before I draw them out on my storyboard sheet. I will also watch some Wes Anderson films because I am really inspired by the color he adds to his film, they are bright and just add such a pretty touch to the film.

These are the steps I followed to write about my outline.
Outline Plans:

Script:
My opening film is about Carolina who is a first-generation daughter who was raised by her Hispanic family is going through many life changes. The changes include dressing differently, having different friends, and basically just being untraditional things her family is not used to.
Character Descriptions:
(These are the characters who will be featured in the opening film, I might make some changes because of the limited time I have.)
Carolina is a girl who is currently 16 years old and is in her junior year of high school. She is a typical student who focuses on her work and does very well in school. Carolina really hopes to satisfy her family by being the best version of herself. She likes to spend time to herself but at times likes to go out. She has many hobbies but one of her favorite ones is cooking, she has always looked up to her mother and learned to cook from watching her and accompanying her every time she would cook.
Juana is Carolinas mother who works all the time to be able to support her family as well as her father too, because of this Carolina cooks breakfast for her sibling Diego and herself. Juana is a very traditional person who goes by the traditional rules like male and female marriage and nothing in-between as well as the rest of Carolina's family (like most Hispanic families do).
Martzia is Carolina's new friend who her family does not approve of. Martzia has a different appearance than Carolina, she has piercings and is a very bold person with a bold personality which includes having no filter. Martzia always picks up Carolina even though Juana doesn't approve of it, her mother doesn't trust Martzia to be driving around Carolina.
Main Conflict:
The main type of conflict in this film is Character vs. Character. Carolina throughout the film starts changing but not for the worse she is just growing up and her family is not used to the changes Carolina is inheriting from her new friends. So, in the movie, there's a constant tension between Carolina and her family as they try to protect her from something they think is bad but it's truly not.
Obstacles The Character Runs Into:
The main character Carolina runs into many obstacles throughout the film because that is what the coming of age films are all about. Carolina faces most of her obstacles with her family, she starts to argue with them like she never has before. She defended herself and her friend to prove to her family that her change would not change who she really is.
Final Part:
Moving towards the end of the film the resolution part, Carolina directly confronts her family about the situation because she got tired of arguing with them daily. As part of her resolution, she formally introduced Martzia to her family and explained to them who she is and how her appearance does not always match her intentions. Carolina's parents slowly start to become understanding of the changes she is going through because she is growing up.
